something new

yesterday we drove around the san pedro cliffs smoking joints and listening to mixtapes. we perched ourselves on a giant rock and threw pebbles into the tidepools below. we sifted through millions of tiny shells and separated them by shape and size.
another name, another face. i came home that evening to sit on the rooftop and eat fruit rollups. a beer and a cocktail later and you tell me you love me because i contradict myself. how i'm small and big at the same time. you said you love my mannerisms and how i try to understand things. you love why i laugh and why i cry.

i tried absinthe and raw octopus for the first time. i was feeling daring and exotic.

family tree

Came upon some more family photos. The first two are my great-great grandparents, Bud & Callie. The third is my great grandmother, Della Mae. I wish photos still had the same quality as they did back then. So gritty and aged, I love it.

january in photos!

nana

I love finding old photos of my family. My Grandfather sent this to me of my late Grandmother (pregnant with my Father). Every photo of her, she is eloquently posed. She encompasses true femininity in all aspects: from the pouty lips to the pointed toe.

I finally watched Atonement via Netflix. I have previously heard great things, but still assumed it to be a dry romance film. Fortunately, it went beyond numerous period piece love stories set during WWII by its attention to details specifically with use of color and sound. The vibrant rose and cobalt hues shown in the scenes with Cecile (Knightley) and Robbie (McAvoy) made the film seem naturally amourous. The rythmic tapping of a typewriter which coincided with gestures from the characters, authenticated the era and aided with the film's fluidity.
All in all, great costume design, intelligent camera usage (particularly pertaining to lens filters), and tolerable acting by the three main characters.
4 stars!
